MCEC NEWSLETTER – AUGUST 2019
Welcome again to the bi-annual MCEC newsletter update. Many thanks for your continued interest in our work to promote the benefits of antimicrobial technologies and the wide-ranging advantages they bring to society.
Since our last update, the MCEC has increased its communications activities through attending events such as the European Coatings Show (ECS 2019), held in Nuremberg. This year’s editions brought together about 30,500 trade visitors from 124 countries and illustrated the sector’s power of innovation. Our attendance at the show was a major success and saw the organisation secure several pieces of coverage in trade media outlets and increase our visibility at an industry level.
Importantly at this year’s ECS 2019, the MCEC’s Frank Cangelosi (Troy) chaired a session on biocides regulation and the opportunities and challenges facing the industry with respect to European chemicals regulations, during the European Coatings Show Conference which gathered more than 800 participants coming from 54 countries. Additionally, he was tasked with selecting the winner for the ECS Award (the best ECS Conference paper). This was a highly valuable experience for the group as it offered the MCEC the opportunity to profile itself within the paints and coatings industry as a voice on the benefits of microbial control technologies.
Ahead of the ECS 2019, the MCEC’s Chair, Michael Schäfer (LANXESS), participated in a Q&A session with PCI Magazine for its January 2019 edition on the activities of the MCEC and its plans for the future. The interview is available here.
Finally, the MCEC members met at the annual General Meeting in Mainz, Germany to discuss the organisation’s past and future activities.
All new content on the MCEC will be posted on our LinkedIn page, Twitter account and website. If you do not already follow us on these channels, please do so to stay up to date on all our exciting activities!
Yours sincerely,
Michael Schäfer, MCEC Chairman
